Proposed Whiskey Club in Ireland

One essential part of the whiskey infrastructure we have been missing in Ireland to date is a Whiskey Club. For those of us with modest means a club is the best way of sampling a wide range of fine whiskeys as well as exchanging knowledge with fellow enthusiasts.

Michael Foggarty, of the Celtic Whiskey Shop, hopes to fill this gap. He proposes a meeting in Bowes pub on Fleet Street (one of my favourite spots, with a good whiskey selection) in January to hammer out the details.

If you are in Ireland and like the sound of becoming a founding member of a new Whiskey Club, could you drop Michael a line (michaelfoggarty_AT_hotmail.com) so he can gauge the level of interest? Perhaps you could mention too if you are in Dublin and available for that meeting in January.

I'll be there.
Dublin needs a Whiskey club, and Ireland needs a dedicated live indigenous whiskey and spirit event.
Fair play to Michael for taking the first steps in organising a club.

As will I.
That Dublin, indeed Ireland, doesn't have a Whiskey Club is a disgrace. A forum like this is essential to promotion and enjoyment of Irish Whiskey.

Alas, unable to attend due to location in the provinces. I imagine that in Dublin there should be sufficient interest and in time an all-island club should be workable. Best wishes of course and I am eagerly watching this space.

I'll try and be there. This is an exciting development and hopefully we can get a great club started up. Ireland needs a focal point to develop and promote whiskey appreciation and hopefully this will be it.
